At this time of year our homes are chock-full with all manner of shiny trinkets, but that niggling feeling that something is missing resides.

You’ve got a wreath and the baubles are in full swing so what could it possibly be?

Nordstrom think its has the answer – a rock wrapped in leather, yours for just £70.85.

Somewhere, an artist named Peter is carefully packing smooth Los Angeles-area stones into rich, vegetable-tanned leather pouches.

Nordstrom seem unsure what it’s actually meant for, “‘A paperweight? A conversation piece? A work of art? It’s up to you,” but we think it would make a perfect upgrade for any ageing pet rock.

The on-site reviews testify its brilliance too with plenty of five star ratings.

If the medium size is too bulky, they also sell a smaller version for a budget-friendly £54.18

"This beautifully formed stone was obviously made with such detail and craftsmanship that the untrained eye would likely mistake it for a simple rock," writes one happy customer. "Brilliant!"

"Four stars because my rock wanted to be a cowboy and would be better with a hat. Love the leather sack for him, keeps him warm during winter. I hope he wins the snail races this year"

"Of all the medium leather wrapped stones Ive bought, (and trust me, I've bought a lot) this is the best."

Speaking to BuzzFeed, the luxury rock makers Made Solid described the rocks as “really cool, labor intensive objects that are used as everything from paperweights to doorstops to home/display accents.”

Going on to add that they’re “one of our most consistently popular items, actually.”

For panic buyers, friends of friends or perhaps people you dislike on the sly this pricey pebble serves as a festive gift that seriously rocks. It’s exactly what people want for Christmas.
