Retail words of the week: Miracle Blade knives, Big Al watches

The following are retail search terms around the world with the largest increase in hits for the week ending December 18 according to Experian Hitwise.*

With less than a week left until Christmas shoppers in the UK were mainly searching for presents for women, with ' fragrance for her', ' lingerie sale' and ' Bridget Jones soundtrack' three popular searches.
 In addition to these generic search terms UK internet users were also looking for kitchen knives with the search term ' Miracle blade 3 UK'.  Advertised on the international website as 'the bestselling brand knives on TV worldwide', Miracle Blade knives are available from UK retailers such as Argos and Amazon and a set of 10 knives retails for around £30 (€35).

In the US internet shoppers were also looking for last minute Christmas presents with the general terms ' women's blazers', ' men's fingerless gloves' and ' cashmere sweaters for men' amongst the most popular searches. The most visited websites in the US over the same period were internet retailer Amazon.com and home appliance and accessories stores Walmart and Target.

Wristwatches were the subject of several search terms in Singapore where internet users were looking for the ' Nike C0007-001' and ' Nike Big Al' time pieces. The sporty Nike C0007-001 digital watch is part of the ' Big Al' range of Nike products and retails for around €100.

In Australia the majority of searches related to retailers, consumer goods stores ' Target' , ' Big W' and electronics stockist ' Dicksmith' were all popular search terms.

Experian Hitwise* - Fast-moving search terms under the industry category Shopping and Classifieds, ranked by the largest percentage increase for the week ending December 18 compared with the week ending December 11.
