The frozen yoghurt shop where Meghan Markle worked as a teenager has seen its business booming since the Duchess of Sussex mentioned the business during her tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey.

On Sunday, the duchess told the former talk-show host that she was grateful for the life and work experience that she had gained at a young age while working at Humphrey Yogart.

“Thank God I had that life experience, thank God I had known the value of working,” she told Winfrey. “My first job was when I was 13 at a frozen yoghurt shop called Humphrey Yogart.”

Since the mention, the dessert store, located inSherman Oaks, California, has seen its customers more than triple, with TMZ reporting that on Monday, Humphrey Yogart served more than 200 customers compared to its usual 50, and that there have been lines out the door.

The yoghurt shop’s publicist also confirmed the boost during a conversation with Vulture, revealing that the store, which is the only one of six locations remaining, has “definitely” seen a boost.

“Oh, definitely. Since Monday morning, when there were people waiting for us to open,” he said, adding that the customers have been a mix of those excited to learn that there was still a Humphrey Yogart still in business while others were there because they wanted to “take a picture of the sign”.

The business has also seen its merchandise completely sell out, with the publicist telling Vulture that it had also received a call from one potential customer “asking if we did pies because they wanted to send one to Piers Morgan,” following the talk-show host’s exit from Good Morning Britain in light of his comments about the duchess.

As for reports that the business has since created a flavour for Meghan, the publicist said that there had originally been conversations about the possibility before the interview had aired, but that the yoghurt shop had ultimately decided against it “because once we heard the interview, and the seriousness of what was going on, we thought it would be kind of cheesy to do that”.

However, he did note that customers have been requesting the flavour that would have been created in Meghan’s honour, a blend of peanut butter, banana and chocolate chips.

“A lot of people have taken off with it,” he said. “So people are coming in and ordering [the banana/peanut butter/chocolate combo], but we didn’t put it on the menu board. We didn’t name it after her.”

The yoghurt shop is not the only business to benefit off the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s interview with Winfrey, as former Brady Bunch star Christopher Knight also saw the chairs from his Christopher Knight Home Burchett collection, which retail for $554 a pair, sell out online after they were used by Meghan, Harry and Winfrey.
