Photographer Misan Harriman has shared a new photograph of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex from their pregnancy photoshoot.

Sharing the black-and-white snap of the couple and their son Archie on Instagram, Harriman congratulated the pair on the news they are expecting a girl.

“What wonderful news to celebrate on International Women’s Day,” Harriman wrote. “Congratulations my friends and welcome to the #girldad club H.”

The snap, taken by Harriman on an iPad, shows Meghan and Harry in a garden with a large tree in the background - something Harriman told British Vogue represented “the tree of life”.

The picture follows on from the same photoshoot shared by the couple on Valentine’s Day, when they announced that they were expecting a second child.

At the time, Harriman, who was the first Black male photographer to shoot the cover of British Vogue, told the publication the couple were “absolute soulmates”.

“When you see people who have the connection that they have, it’s like reading the pages of a book,” he said.

Meghan and Harry, who live in Santa Barbara, California, revealed that they were expecting a girl during a sit-down interview with Oprah Winfrey that aired in the US on Sunday and in the UK on Monday.

Although Meghan, 39, told Oprah during the one-on-one section of the interview that the couple knew the baby’s sex, she said she wanted to wait for Harry to join them before revealing the news.

“To have a boy and then a girl, what more can you ask for? But now we’ve got our family. We’ve got the four of us and our two dogs,” said Harry, 36, during the interview.

The bombshell interview has dominated headlines around the world, with a number of revelations from the couple, who got married in 2018 at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. In January 2020, the Sussexes announced they would step down as “senior” royals.

The Duke and Duchess are expected to welcome the newest member of their family in the summer, although they did not reveal the exact date the baby is due.

As such, their child will either be Queen Elizabeth’s 10th or 11th grandchild – depending on whether she arrives before or after Zara Tindall’s third child.
