The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been caught on camera reacting to a surprise proposal at the Endeavour Awards on Thursday night.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle attended the annual event at Mansion House in London and handed out awards to honour wounded or injured veterans.

During the ceremony Welsh Guards veteran Danny Holland proposed to his girlfriend Lauren Price after winning the ‘recognising achievement’ award.

The whole audience was caught off guard and Meghan was seen placing her hands in front of her chest, smiling and getting teary-eyed.

After the ceremony, the newly engaged couple were reportedly invited to speak to the Duke and Duchess privately.

Lauren Price said: “They just congratulated us. They said they were really happy for us.”

For the event Meghan wore a turquoise Victoria Beckham dress, costing £950, paired with Jimmy Choo stiletto heels.

The dress is currently sold out on Victoria Beckham’s website.

Prior to their arrival at the awards, the couple, who are in the UK to fulfil their remaining royal duties prior to stepping down from the royal family, were seen leaving The Goring hotel near Buckingham Palace.

The couple will officially stand down on 31 March and their Buckingham Palace office will close on 1 April.

However, they still have a number of royal engagements to undertake in the UK before their new journey can officially start.

The couple are expected to make an appearance at the Mountbatten Music Festival on 7 March before Meghan marks International Women’s Day with a special event on 8 March.

For the Sussexes final royal engagement, they will join the Queen and other members of the royal family at the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey on 9 March.
