Princess Beatrice sends video message to families supported by children's hospice during lockdown

'I just want to send you all my love, and at this really challenging time, I'm with you and I support you', says royal

Princess Beatrice has shared a touching video message to the families and young people supported by the work of Forget Me Not Children's Hospice during lockdown.

In the clip, which was shared on YouTube by the charity, the royal urged anyone struggling to cope to contact Forget Me Not, which supports children with life-shortening conditions.

Beatrice, who is the patron of the charity, sent “all her love” to those watching and acknowledged how being in isolation might be putting a strain on those who normally receive face-to-face support.

“As a proud ambassador for the Forget Me Not Children's Hospice, I just want to send this message to the families and young people supported by the incredible work of Forget Me Not Children's Hospice,” the royal said.

“I know that this is an incredibly challenging time, especially for those living in isolation not receiving that face-to-face support which is delivered by the incredible nurses and staff at the hospice.”

Beatrice continued: “Please know that we are with you, every single step of the way. Their helpline is available 24/7, seven days a week.

“Please call them with any questions or queries, and we're here to support you, I'm here to support you.”

The Duchess of York's daughter went on to say that she is also there to support anyone in need.

“I'm here to support you. I just want to send you all my love, and at this really challenging time, I'm with you and I support you and thank you,” Beatrice said.

The 31-year-old has been working with the charity for more than eight years and has visited the hospice, which is based in West Yorkshire, on several occasions to spend time with the young people and families who receive support and care.

The touching message was filmed inside Beatrice’s London apartment in St James' Palace London, where she is currently isolating with her fiancé Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi during lockdown.

The couple were due to get married on 29 May, but had to postpone their nuptials due to the coronavirus.

A spokesperson for the couple said: “Princess Beatrice and Mr Mapelli Mozzi are very much looking forward to getting married but are equally aware of the need to avoid undertaking any unnecessary risks in the current circumstances.

“In line with government advice for the UK and beyond, the couple are reviewing their arrangements for May 29.”

The spokesperson added that Beatrice and Edoardo were particularly conscious of government advice in relation to both the wellbeing of older family members and large gatherings of people.

“Therefore, the planned reception in the Buckingham Palace Gardens will not take place,” they explained.
