Singer Selena Gomez has stunned fans with a hair transformation as she has changed her signature dark brown hair to platinum blonde.

Having had brown hair for most of her career, Selena Gomez fans were excited to have the blonde back after the singer previously went blonde in 2017 for a short time.

In a picture posted on the Instagram account of her makeup brand Rare Beauty, the 28-year-old singer revealed her new hairstyle with a mirror selfie, announcing in the caption, “new look”.

Fans commented on the picture, which the singer reposted to her stories on her own Instagram account with over 222 million followers.

One fan commented: “BLONDLENA IS BACK.”

Another said she was unrecognisable, as they wrote: “Didn’t even recognize her AH THE BLONDE QUEEN IS BACK!”

Selena Gomez’s hair colourists of more than 10 years Nikki Lee and Riawna Capri said the transformation from dark brown to platinum blonde took eight hours in total.

In an interview with MailOnline, they said: “We’ve been doing Selena’s color for over a decade now. She typically keeps it pretty natural, but this time she went for a big change.

“This blonde is unique to her as we had to make sure there was an equal balance of cool and warm for her skin tone. It’s an edgier look and perfect for summer.

“The entire process took 200 foils, several bowls of bleach and eight hours of hair magic! Definitely worth it! Her hair looks and feels amazing!”

Gomez has previously described herself as an American-Mexican and last month released her first EP entirely in Spanish.

The singer said she is “so, so proud of my heritage” and REVELACIÓN is a way of expressing that.

Gomez wrote on her Instagram: “This is the beginning of something I’ve wanted to explore for so long. I hope you love it as much as I do.”
