SUGAR the whippet is competing in Thursday's Pet Slimmer of the Year finals. Sugar used to weigh 40 lb. 'She looked like a whale,' says her owner, Jean Jowett. Mrs Jowett put her on a low-fat, high-fibre diet. Sugar lost 15 lb in six months and, according to Mrs Jowett, is now 'running around like a race horse'. HESTER LACEY
