Camila Cabello, Ryan Seacrest and the cast of Hamilton have all taken part in the latest trend sweeping the internet

From the “Bottle Cap” challenge to the “Mannequin” challenge, the internet has seen a plethora of weird and wacky trials come and go.

The latest online phenomenon is the “Flip the Switch“ challenge, popularised on the video-sharing platform TikTok.

The challenge takes its name from a Drake lyric from his 2018 single “Nonstop”, in which he says: “I just flip the switch.”

The majority of the “Flip the Switch” videos show participants performing a clothes swap in pairs, before and after flipping a light switch while dancing to Drake’s lyrics.

As can be expected, a number of high-profile figures have taken note of the trend, sharing their own versions of the challenge for all the world to see.

Over the weekend, former US presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren took part in the challenge alongside Saturday Night Live star Kate McKinnon, who portrays the politician in the skit show.

Another recent submission came from singer Jennifer Lopez and her partner, former professional baseball player Alex Rodriguez, showing the pair switching outfits while dancing.

Here are seven of the best examples of celebrities conquering the “Flip the Switch” challenge:

Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez

Rodriguez, commonly known as “A-Rod”, demonstrated he had the dancing chops to rival his fiancée Lopez when the couple performed the “Flip the Switch” challenge.

The video begins with Jennifer Lopez in a white ensemble dancing in a mirror’s reflection, while Rodriguez films her on his phone in a pair of beige trousers, a navy blazer, a white shirt and Aviator glasses.

They then hilariously switch places – and outfits – with Lopez also adopted her partner’s serious facial expression.

Elizabeth Warren and Kate McKinnon

On SNL, actor and comedian McKinnon has proven time and time again the extent to which she has mastered Warren’s mannerisms.

This was made even more apparent when the duo took part in a “Flip the Switch” video, both dressed in matching outfits of black trousers, black tops and royal blue blazers.

Max Greenfield and Cedric the Entertainer​

New Girl star Max Greenfield and his The Neighborhood co-star Cedric the Entertainer did the “Flip the Switch” challenge while on the set of their sitcom television series.

The video begins with Greenfield dancing awkwardly in a checkered shirt while Cedric the Entertainer stands in front of him wearing a sports jersey.

When they switch places, Cedric the Entertainer starts by mimicing Greenfield’s robotic dance moves, before adding a bit more flair.

Camila Cabello and Calvit Jr

Cabello did the “Flip the Switch” challenge with her choreographer Calvit Jr, captioning her video: “Had to do it”.

The singer begins the video by wearing a white crop top, black jeans and orange-tinted sunglasses and playing with her ponytail.

When she switches places with Calvit Jr, not only does he put on Cabello’s clothing, but he also dons a wig as well.

The cast of Hamilton

The cast of Hamilton joined in the fun with their own TikTok video featuring a selection of actors who star in the Broadway production.

Shared on cast member Jared Dixon’s account, the video begins with three male cast members dancing backstage.

When the light switches off and on, three of the play’s female cast members are then revealed in their place.

Patrick Starr

Make-up artist and beauty vlogger Patrick Starr delivered his own version of the “Flip the Switch” challenge, in which he stars on his own.

He begins his video by walking into a bathroom wearing a ornate gold sequinned ensemble, complete with an extravagant headpiece.

When the light switches, he is revealed to be wearing a pair of black trousers and a pink crop top, and is no longer wearing his signature, glamorous make-up.

Ryan Seacrest and Kelly Ripa

The Morning Show co-hosts Ripa and Seacrest went all out for their “Flip the Board” challenge, transforming their looks with clothes, hair and make-up.

Both Ripa and Seacrest were deeply committed to their roles, resisting from breaking character.
