From Ms Annie Gurton Sir: With technology available which allows airline tickets to be bought from a travel agency in any high street and lottery tickets to be bought from corner shops and off-licences, why should the purchase of train tickets be limitedto a few railway stations, or to stations at all?
If British Rail got its act together, we would not only be able to buy tickets from every train station, ordinary travel agents and certain department stores but through on-line services using computer, televisions and cables.
We could confirm bookings and seat reservations before we leave home and receive other information such as special offers, etc.
Or perhaps the information highway does not cross the railway lines.
Yours faithfully, ANNIE GURTON London, NW5
