Just My Luck (PG)

You won't be shocked to learn that Just My Luck is not a profound meditation on the significance of chance. Much like Donald Petrie's previous romantic comedy, How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days, it's just a snappy premise which the five credited writers fail to spin into a workable story. And to make matters worse, Pine's character manages the deeply punchable Britpap combo, McFly, so they're hardly ever offscreen. The paradox is that when Lohan starred in Freaky Friday and Mean Girls as a teenager, her films could be enjoyed by viewers of all ages; whereas now that she's graduated to, theoretically, adult fare, she's in a film which only a 13-year-old girl could stomach.
