Top end designs and exclusive one off pieces for serious collectors will be on exhibition at Design Miami / Basel from November 30 and the super rich will be out in force at luxury trade show the Miljonair fair in the Netherlands.

Design Miami/Basel
November 30 - December 5
United States, Miami

Now in its sixth year, Design Miami/Basel 2010 will feature an expanded selection of galleries featuring design works from the 20th and 21st centuries alongside emerging design studios. Over the past five years Design Miami has emerged as one of the most important shows for limited edition designs, as Director Ambra Medda explains in a related press release: "Design Miami/Basel is the place where collectors and institutions can acquire work they can't find elsewhere." The event opens by invitation only on November 30, and to the general public from December 1. The event is similar in context to Maison & Objet (January 21-25) or the Miljionair Fair (December 9-13) in that it presents objects designed to appeal to an elite set of consumers. The innovative design and exclusivity of the objects presented at these shows is, perhaps, of greater importance than their functionality or mass appeal.

Interior Design BoY Awards

December 2
USA, New York

The fifth installment of the Best of Year (BoY) awards by Interior Design Magazine. The winners will be decided by public vote (which closed on October 10) and honored at the IAC building in New York. Product categories include 'kitchen', 'bath' and 'furniture' in comparison with the ISH (March 2011) or Ambiente (February 2011) the BoY awards are smaller and attract less established companies, however they do provide an insight into the range of innovative grass roots house hold designs.

Miljonair Fair
December 9-13
Amsterdam, Netherlands

The fifth and final in this year's series of Miljonair Fairs. These exclusive lifestyle exhibitions showcase the latest in high end luxury consumer products ranging from interior decorations to motor vehicles and yachts. Last year's event in Amsterdam attracted around 50,000 visitors. Unlike other tradeshows such as International CES or Ambiente, the Miljonair Fair does not focus on consumer relevance but rather aims to display the latest and best in international luxury products. Videos from the opening night of the Miljonair fair 2009 in Amsterdam can be viewed here and here.

Homex & Household Exhibition
December, 24-27
Hong Kong

The 10th annual Homex and Household Exhibition is aimed at promoting designs which reduce the problems associated with modern living. This year's exhibition is strongly linked with mainland China and will focus on furnishings, household appliances and interior design. However, the Homex & Household trade show lacks the international exposure of  trade shows such as Ambiente (February 2011) or ISH (March 2011).
