What makes a Leesa mattress different

Get a comfortable night's sleep from a brand with social impact at its heart

Whatever your sleeping style, investing in the right mattress can mean you have a better night’s sleep. But with so many new mattress brands out there, how do you choose the one that’s right for you?

That’s where Leesa comes in. Founded in 2014, Leesa’s goal is simple: to help people get a better night’s sleep. After all, research from the Sleep Council says four out of five of us agree a good mattress is crucial to our quality of sleep.

The science

Designed and developed by co-founder Jamie Diamonstein – who has more than 30 years’ experience in the mattress industry – the Leesa mattress contains a unique combination of three precision-engineered foam layers, making it suitable for all body types and sleeping styles.

A temperature regulating top layer, made with 5cm of Avena foam (a more durable alternative to latex foam), provides airflow and bounce as air flows continuously through it to prevent warm air building up.

The middle layer of the Leesa mattress is a 5cm layer of memory foam. This material provides pressure relief, adapting to the body of each individual to offer optimum support and comfort. The memory foam used in the Leesa and other high-quality foam mattresses is a type of polyurethane foam known as visco-elastic foam, which is made up of billions of spherical cells. These cells change in form under the weight of your body, creating the unique blend of comfort and support that makes memory foam special. This differs to ordinary pocket-sprung mattresses that only have a few thousand points of adaption, making them much less responsive to your body.

Finally, there is the 15cm base layer, the thickest and simplest, which offers core support, providing the moderate firmness and supportiveness which many of us look for in a mattress.

And that’s not all. With Leesa, even the mattress cover is special: sublimely soft, for sensitive sleepers, it is striped with the slightest diagonal grooves.

Buy risk free with a 100-night trial

The Leesa mattress is delivered free within five to seven working days, compressed in a box for easy transportation. All you have to do is carry it to wherever you intend to sleep, and unbox.

Each Leesa mattress comes with a 100-night risk-free trial, meaning that if at any point within the first 100 nights of receiving the mattress you aren’t sleeping better, Leesa can arrange for the mattress to be collected and donated or recycled, while offering you a full refund. Past the first 100 nights, Leesa also offers a 10-year limited warranty to help give you peace of mind.

The reception

Boasting more than 12,000 five-star reviews, the Leesa mattress has been lauded as “pure bliss” and “perfect for every type of sleeper”. A Which? Best Buy, it’s also Good Housekeeping Institute Approved, Men's Health Lab Approved, and an Evening Standard Best Top Pick.

Giving back

Leesa aims to give back to its communities, and that means you can help others as you sleep. Through its One-Ten programme, for every 10 mattresses sold, Leesa donates one to charities that help support the homeless and victims of human trafficking. It has donated more than 30,000 mattresses so far. It also plants a tree for every mattress sold with the Arbour Day Foundation, helping to offset its carbon footprint.
