What your hairdresser wishes you would stop doing

It is an occupation that demands patience, but some things remain too much to bear

Most hairdressers are almost always polite and accommodating.

Extreme social awkwardness, constant coffee-slurping and incessant wittering are all among the daily sources of annoyance sent to test hair stylists and barbers.

But while most hairdressers have learned to tolerate such commonplace aggravations, some things remain too much to bear.

According to celebrity stylist Charles Taylor, who worked with the likes of Natalie Portman, the most annoying thing a client can do is talk with their hands.

He says customers making elaborate hand gestures while talking, and consequently causing their body to jolt around in the salon chair, is his biggest bugbear at work.

“This makes stylists worry about cutting either our own fingers or a few extra inches of the client’s hair,” he told Allure.

Other annoyances include customers crossing their legs while getting their hair cut and arriving late to the salon but still demanding to be seen.

He also advised those people seeking to describe a hairstyle to their stylist to bring a photo, or work out in advance how best to articulate it using words.
