Space NK is a collection of clothing outlets in the basement of the Thomas Neal centre. But it doesn't feel like a basement: its white walls and pale wood floors exude daylight.

Cafe Space is an American-style bar counter inside the door, on whose conical stools you can perch and drink some of the punchiest espresso in London (pounds 1) or eat mozzarella, sundried tomato and fresh basil on ciabatta (pounds 3.80) while waiting for your friend to turn up and help you squander your clothes money. The staff, also, are sweet and chatty and will keep you amused. Afterwards go and have a make-up session from Shue Uemura for pounds 30.
