Witness rock'n'roll suicide

Having conquered distinctions of gender and class, Ziggy Stardust is set to defy death itself when he struts his stuff on the ICA stage this week, 25 years after he met his maker.

David Bowie's most extreme creation was killed off on the 60th day of his "Aladdin Sane" world tour, after electrifying a generation with his androgynous, futuristic act. "Not only is it the last show of the tour, but it's the last show we'll ever do," Bowie announced.

But the legend will live again in A Rock'n'Roll Suicide, devised by artists Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard. In a spectacular re-enactment of that final gig, lookalike Steve Harvey (left) will assume the glittering mantle - indeed, all seven of them - of Ziggy Stardust, and perform the same 18- song set, including "Jean Genie" and "Suffragette City", which filled London's Hammersmith Odeon in 1973.

Older Bowie fans can relive the thrill of the 1970s, while the younger generation can discover the perfect icon for the post-Sensation era.
