Lena Dunham has called on her millions of Instagram followers to comment below a nude photograph of her with reasons why they love themselves.

In exchange, the Girls star and writer has promised to donate $1 for each comment posted during the next week to Friendly House LA, a care home for recovering female addicts.

“Any negativity that comes your way is just an excuse to love yourself even more, right? “ Dunham’s caption begins. “Comment below with a reason you love yourself. I’ll go first: I’m a sober accountable adult who still loves to get naked. Okay, GO!”

In just 14 hours, the 33-year-old’s post has garnered more than 25,700 comments from fans and fellow celebrities sharing honest and empowering messages about self-love.

Actor Rumer Willis wrote: I love myself for my resolute loyalty. My tender heart and my compassion and empathy for others....oh and the tiny freckle on my toe.”

Model Tess Holliday added: “I love myself because it’s the greatest love I’ve ever known. I love my soft body, tender heart, resilience & courage to keep going.”

Several male celebrities also left comments, including British actor Orlando Bloom.

“You’re a genius!,” the Pirates of the Caribbean star wrote. “I’m a recovering- impulsive risk taker – I love my sincere and sometimes too sensitive heart.”

Bloom was followed by 13 Reasons Why star Tommy Dorfman, who wrote: “I’m a sober responsible loving person who will always pickup the phone and show up for people.”

Other well-known commenters on Dunham’s post include actor Emma Roberts, model Daisy Lowe and activist Scarlett Curtis.

The post hasn’t even been up for a full day but we suspect there’s much more self-love wisdom to come.
