Bradford & Bingley Building Society is extending its payment protection insurance, previously available only at the time of taking out a mortgage, to existing borrowers. The insurance covers the borrower for unemployment, accident or sickness. It is available at a cost of pounds 6.95 a year for each pounds 100 worth of cover. The maximum age for the cover is 55.
