NATIONAL COUNTIES is offering a 4 per cent discount off its variable rate, currently 7.99 per cent, until 1 June next year. Borrowers who need only a 50 per cent loan get an additional 0.75 per cent discount for three years.
Abbey National has come back into the fixed-rate market with a range of products at higher rates.
First-time buyers are being offered a 7.1 per cent fix to last to November 1996 on 90 per cent loans. The arrangement fee is pounds 90.
Chase de Vere Mortgage Management is offering a 6.45 per cent fix to first-time buyers. The deal includes a pounds 200 contribution towards legal fees and pounds 750 towards mortgage indemnity.
