ABBEY National is offering 2 percentage points off its unsecured loan rate to customers who apply by the end of the month. Another 1 point is cut for borrowers who agree to pay instalments by direct debit. The standard rate of 21.9 per cent can therefore be brought down to 18.9 per cent. The offers apply to loans between pounds 2,000 and pounds 10,000.
