Leeds & Holbeck BS is offering a fixed-rate mortgage at 7.75 per cent interest for up to 80 per cent of the property value, or 7.99 per cent for mortgages over 80 per cent of valuation, fixed for five years. Six months' interest is charged on early redemption but there are no penalties after the five years. Applications fees are pounds 295 and the valuation fee is pounds 99. Borrowers who arrange their own buildings and contents insurance pay an extra 0.24 per cent.

Jupiter Asset Management is launching an investment trust fund to invest in Indonesian equities. The minimum subscriptions will be $1,000 and investors will receive one free warrant for every five shares.

Anyone who has a Visa card issued by First Direct will be able from 1 December to earn air mile points at a rate of one for every pounds 10 spent or drawn. Details will be sent to cardholders in January.
