LEEDS Building Society is opening its telephone share dealing service to all comers from this weekend.

People wanting to buy or sell shares will have to pay a one-off membership fee of pounds 10, although this will be only pounds 5 for existing Leeds savers.

The minimum charge is pounds 18 per deal, with commission charged at 1.25 per cent on transactions up to pounds 3,000, with a further 0.75 per cent on the next pounds 4,000, and 0.1 per cent thereafter.

The dealing will be executed by the stockbrokers Wise Speke. No advice will be given.
