TOM COX, a retired insurance manager from Penarth in Wales, is more than willing to sing the praises of Avon Insurance for the way it handled a holiday accident to his wife.

Last month, Mr Cox and his wife Leonora, both aged over 75, decided to go on holiday for two months to Lanzarote. They took out insurance with Avon Insurance, which cost about pounds 188.

Unfortunately, within five hours of landing Mrs Cox fell and fractured her leg and wrist. She was immediately admitted to hospital, and after five days was stretchered home.

Mr Cox said: 'Avon Insurance dealt with the matter promptly, efficiently and with sympathetic consideration. From the moment I had given the necessary details there was nothing left for me to do. Tickets, baggage transfers - all were dealt with for me, even to the notification to the hospital of my wife's imminent arrival.'

The total costs incurred were about pounds 1,500, which were met by the company.
