IAN LORIMER, the freelance television vision mixer who won his case against the Inland Revenue, which wants him to be taxed under PAYE rules, now faces another hearing in the Court of Appeal.
The Revenue is challenging the High Court's confirmation of a decision by the Special Commissioners, which allowed Mr Lorimer to receive his payments gross. It wants his various employers to deduct tax and National Insurance. The original case involved interpretation of the rules for qualifying as self- employed.
Bectu, the broadcasting and theatre union, has agreed to contribute pounds 4,000 towards the costs of the hearing in November.
