Public service minister John Horam told last week's annual conference of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy that the Treasury and the Office of Public Service would together review the audit arrangements of all public bodies, including quangos. The decision was warmly welcomed by the association and the Nolan committee, one of whose members, Sir William Utting, referred at length to a recent article on this subject in this section in his speech to the gathering.
