Two personal finance journalists from The Independent picked up trophies at the British Insurance Brokers' Association's journalist of the year awards this week. James Daley received the most promising newcomer award. The judges commended his "clear and thorough explanation" of the complex insurance market. Edmund Tirbutt won the award for best submission from a consumer broadsheet, for his piece last November on life assurers dropping demands for HIV tests on gay clients.
