Unit trusts weak

Demand for unit trusts remains very weak, with private investors preferring to leave cash on deposit. Net retail sales in March were £316m, compared with £88m in February. That compared with sales of £973m in March 1994.

Net sales of unit trust personal equity plans for the final quarter of the tax year fell by 39.5 per cent year-on-year to £908m, Net sales of Peps for 1994/95 were £3.4bn, down 9 per cent.
