AN unemployed truck driver, Kenneth M Vogelpohl, in Maryland, has been convicted of selling his infant son to the boy's former foster parents for $100 and a used car.

Vogelpohl, 38, said that he and his girlfriend, an unemployed waitress, only wanted a better life for themselves and the child. He faces up to 10 years in jail and a $20,000 fine.
