32 massacred

ARMED men killed 32 people in three weekend attacks, security forces said, adding that members of a civilian self-defence group were among those slain in one massacre. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attacks, but authorities lay the blame for violence wracking Algeria on Islamic insurgents trying to topple the military-backed regime. - AP, Algiers
