A rise in Sirs among Conservative MPs

More than 120 Conservative MPs have received knighthoods since 1979, the Prime Minister said yesterday.

In a written answer to Tony Wright MP, Mr Major said 122 Tory MPs had been knighted, but he refused to reveal the criteria on which the awards were based.
