MANDY ALLWOOD, who became pregnant with octuplets but lost all eight babies, was placed on probation for three years yesterday after admitting two counts of fraud.

Ms Allwood admitted furnishing false information to the Royal Bank of Scotland and the West Bromwich Building Society during an appearance at Birmingham Crown Court last month. She claimed she was a high-powered manager, when in reality she was on income support.

Ms Allwood was reported to the police after her true identity was revealed amid the publicity surrounding her multiple pregnancy in 1996. The 33- year-old mother of two agreed to be put on probation after pleading guilty to two counts of dishonestly providing information to the Royal Bank of Scotland and the West Bromwich Building Society to obtain pounds 93,500.
