A scientist is seeking pounds 30,000 compensation from Boots for a fresh expedition to the Arctic after alleging the store lost his roll of 36 photographs from a previous trip.

Ecologist Dr Barry Matthews, 59, from Leeds, visited the North Pole in July 1993 to photograph soil, vegetation and permafrost for research. But he told Leeds County Court his film was lost by Boots in transit. The case was adjourned.
