A secret banking system among Britain's Asian and Chinese communities is being used to launder "dirty" money from drugs and crime, a conference on financial fraud in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, was told yesterday.
Police say they have have uncovered a number of criminals who use the process - known as "Hawallah" to the Asians and "Chip-Chop" to the Chinese . The Bank of England is also understood to be concerned about the process. Jason Bennetto
