At 25, a self-made multi-millionaire

A 25-YEAR-OLD entrepreneur saw his fortune jump by pounds 1.5m yesterday after the company he part-owned made its debut on the stock market.

Dylan Wilk set up his Interactive Commercial Enterprises (ICE) firm in Leeds five years ago after receiving pounds 2,000 from the Prince's Youth Business Trust. The operation sold computer games by mail order, telephone and fax.

After building up his order book to more than 275,000 customers, he agreed to sell the business to the newly-created Internet computer games company Gameplay.com for pounds 5.1m last month.

As half of the payment, Mr Wilk was promised around 1.8 million shares in Gameplay when it floated. The shares jumped from their flotation price of 135p to 221p by the end of trading, boosting Mr Wilk's stake from pounds 2.5m to almost pounds 4m. Mr Wilk will also become an executive director on a salary of pounds 76,000. At last night's closing share price, Gameplay is valued at around pounds 88m by the stock market.
