Hare Krishna devotees can continue to worship at a Hertfordshire country manor house, the Department of the Environment announced yesterday.

Bhaktivendanta Manor, in the village of Letchmore Heath, Herts was given to the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (Iskcon) by the Beatle George Harrison in 1973.

It attracts thousands of Hindus to religious festivals. But some local people have complained, and Iskcon was prosecuted last year by Hertsmere Borough Council and fined.
