A futuristic pounds 32m riverside concert hall and conference centre opens in Belfast today as part of an effort to regenerate the Victorian city.

The launch of the circular building, known as the Waterfront Hall, will be marked over the new few weeks with appearances of local artists such as Kenneth Branagh, Van Morrison, Barry Douglas, James Galway and Sinead O'Connor, as well as international guests. David McKittrick
