Book returned, 56 years late

A NOVEL borrowed from a library in October 1943 has been returned. It should have attracted pounds 2,000 in fines but Leamington Spa library, Warwickshire, waived the charge. Der Katzensteg by Hermann Sudermann was found by Caryl Panman, of Co Cork, in her late mother's belongings.
