A 15-year-old boy was last night accused of the murder of Philip Lawrence, the headmaster who died after being stabbed outside his school last month.
The youth, from Camden, north London, had earlier been questioned for several hours at a police station in the capital. He was also charged with conspiracy to harm a 13-year-old schoolboy.
The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, will appear before Highbury Corner youth court this morning.
Mr Lawrence, a 48-year-old father-of-four, died after he was stabbed outside St George's Roman Catholic School in Maida Vale, north- west London, on 8 December, after he went to the aid of a pupil being attacked by a gang of youths.
