A four-year-old boy has become the tenth victim to die of meningitis since October. The youngster, who has not been named, died from suspected meningococcal septicaemia in Coventry, West Midlands on Wednesday night.

More than 40 children at Eburne Primary School in Wood End, the boy's school, have been given antibiotics in an attempt to ward off the disease. The nursery section of the school was closed yesterday as a precaution.
