British hostages in Kashmir `safe'
Four hostages held by guerillas since early July in Kashmir have not been harmed, although one British and one US hostage are ill, according to the Indian authorities.
Talks between the authorities and the guerillas had been cut off since 19 September and the fresh contact signals hope for the captives, who face a freezing Himalayan winter.
