Premier Manager, PlayStation 2, Zoo, £39.99 **

This game challenges players to take control of their favourite European clubs with domestic and international honours at stake. However, the title's innovatively interactive front-end forces gamers into meetings with staff, bosses players reps, etc. While initially entertaining, the game's excessive use of loading screens and meetings soon becomes time-consuming and tiresome.

C&C: Generals, PC-CDROM, EA, £29.99 *****

Command and Conquer: Generals follows in the same vein as preceding versions. Players choose their allegiance – US, Chinese, or Global Liberation – and lead their forces into combat in a bid for global domination. With brilliant new weapons, completely overhauled graphics and tense multi-player action, this is yet another feather in the C&C cap.

BMX XXX, Xbox, Acclaim, £39.99 ****

Acclaim's title gives an unruly twist to the world of xtreme biking. The objective of the game is to pull off death-defying stunts, complete challenges and unlock hidden features. Although BMX stunts might seem like tame game material, XXX's explicit content, from foul language to prostitutes and strippers, sets itself, rather controversially, apart from the crowd.
