Given the number of football titles released to coincide with the World Cup, it is inevitable that some will not make the grade; Lego Football Mania is one of those. Despite its charismatic approach to the beautiful game, the extremely slow gameplay, limited player moves and lack-lustre competition leaves it flailing in the depths of tedium.

The Xbox's answer to the cult driving game Destruction Derby, is aptly named. It pits players in an automotive battle to the death. The aim is, rather unsurprisingly, to ram and pummel your opponents, whether human or computer controlled, into oblivion. Although the game is graphically impressive, its disappointing action and driving physics offer little cause for jubilation.

While Fifa, Pro Evolution Soccer, and the like try to embody all that is great about football, Red Card Soccer features more career-ending tackles than a bad night out with Vinny Jones, as well as what appear to be moves cribbed from Matrix 2. While the two-player option provides some hilarity, the game as a whole is extremely unrealistic and highly frustrating.

Just to compound the misery suffered by the "baddest man on the planet" at the hands of Lennox Lewis, Tyson';s first console outing is no match for Lewis and co in Knockout Kings 2002. In essence the game is nothing more than a mindless, button-hammering slugfest, and, although it is presented skilfully, it can be put-down as easily as it can be picked-up.
