THE BLUE-CHIP Xetra DAX index rose 23.98 points to close at 4,705.3, while the floor DAX climbed 1.18 per cent to 4,717.7, as traders said some good corporate results amid low turnover helped the market halt two days of losses.
Shares in retailer Metro gained 5.9 per cent as it announced a news conference tomorrow on an "important strategic development" amid rumours of a deal with either Wal-Mart of the US or a French firm. Commerzbank's third-quarter income outshone its rivals, lifting its share price 1.67 per cent.
