GERMAN STOCKS closed lower amid renewed concerns over the nation's economic health. The electronically traded Xetra Dax fell more than 1 per cent to close at 4,799.59. The floor Dax fell close to 2 per cent to finish at 4775.17.
Traders said sentiment had been hit by a gloomy report by the BGA exporters' association. Earlier this week, the BGA cut its 1999 growth forecast for exports by 5 per cent to 2 per cent. Fears over the escalating Kosovo crisis also undermined share prices.
