GERMAN SHARES fell from their record highs as the threat from the deteriorating situation in Asia grew. The DAX index fell by 1.5 per cent, although it remains more than 30 per cent up on the year to date.
Daimler-Benz shares fell almost 3 per cent at the start of the subscription period for the upcoming rights issue. VW bucked the trend rising 4 per cent but BMW fell 3 per cent. Inflation remains subdued with the CPI up 1.3 per cent in the year to May.
