THE HANG SENG slid to close 134.13 points down at 14,372.6 as caution replaced recovery fever, but brokers said positive corporate events pointed to more gains in the near future. "This was just a technical adjustment today," said Ted Chen, an analyst at Indosuez WI Carr Securities. "We're likely to head back up tomorrow."

The H-share Hang Seng China Enterprises Index dropped 8.30 points to close at 631.58.
