HONG KONG stocks closed lower, pulled down by a surprise loss from Cable & Wireless HKT, with investors sidelined by the government's unit trust, the Tracker Fund.
The blue chip Hang Seng index closed down 41.24 points - 0.30 per cent - at 13,610.27 after a lacklustre day. The Tracker Fund pricing will be announced on Tuesday.
A dealer said: "The market will go back to normal, I guess, on Tuesday or Wednesday."
