SHARES ON the Hang Seng market were hit by fears that more blue chip companies would cash in on the market's recent strength by issuing more stock.

The index was down 31.14 points or 0.22 per cent at 14,226.30. Turnover was HK$9.39bn (pounds 776m), down from Wednesday's HK$16.55bn.

With nothing else to provide direction, some institutional investors cashed in on some blue chips, fearing more placements, traders said.
