THE MARKET returned to winning ways yesterday thanks to a strong start on Wall Street and receding fears on the Argentinian economy.

The FTSE 100 ended 27.5 higher at 6473.1 in high volume. The blue-chip index soared over 90 points after the Dow opened higher but was forced into a retreat when a nervous US market went into reverse.

The smaller indexes followed the leaders, with the FTSE 250 posting a 13.5 gain to 6061.6 and the Small Cap rising 7.4 to 2742.5.
