LEADING SHARES mounted a strong recovery following the FTSE 100's 3 per cent fall on Thursday to end up almost 2 per cent higher on strong performances from heavyweight bank and oil stocks. By the close, the blue chip index had risen 114.4 points to 6,231.9, having fallen some 179 points on Thursday. Better than expected half-year results from Lloyds TSB Group prompted impressive gains among the banks.
